The Moonstone Appeal is raising £1.28m to build a new purpose built Therapy Centre for the West Of England MS Therapy Centre Charity at Bradley Stoke on the outskirts of Bristol.
The proposed new Therapy Centre will be built in 2 phases – the first phase will enable us to help some 450 people with MS by 2011. The second phase will see our services expand along with our capacity enabling us to help in excess of 600 people by 2015.
Within Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and B&NES there are some 1700 people living with MS and there are approximately 100 new diagnoses each year predominantly for people between the ages of 20 and 40. Currently, within the existing building, we help some 300 people live, and live well, with the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis.
Whilst the standard of care is very high and the therapies we provide are vital to people with MS, the existing building are inadequate to offer these therapies effectively. We need your help to build a new purpose built therapy centre to enable us to care for more people with MS and provide a wider range of services. People with MS desperately need ongoing therapy, care and support, however little is provided for them within the NHS.
By building a new centre we will be able to provide therapies to help alleviate some of the symptoms and improve quality of life.
